Tunisia – Tunisian President Kais Saied said yesterday, Saturday, that the announcement of the candidacy for a second presidential term will come on time according to the law, stressing that it will not be acceptable for candidates to come to power who have “connections abroad.”

The Tunisian president added, following the commemoration of the 24th anniversary of the passing of President Habib Bourguiba, that “running for the presidential elections is not a matter of lust or ambition. It is an issue of survival or extinction that will be raised at the appropriate time.”

He continued, in a speech published by the Tunisian presidency on its official Facebook page, “It is our duty as Tunisians to be in the service of Tunisia from whatever position, and it is strange that those who boycotted the legislative elections today find themselves jostling for the presidency.”

He stressed in this context, saying, “We cannot accept that there will be a step back, nor that nominations will be made by groups that fall into the arms of abroad. The issue for us is the homeland, and the continuation of national liberation until we rid Tunisia of those who tampered with it and corrupted it everywhere and in every sector.” “.

He added, “Today we are fighting an existential war, and I am not exaggerating.. a war of survival or annihilation for the sake of this country..
