The Chinese Room has provided us with a new Developer Diary, a sneak peek at the combat system of the upcoming Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. Creative director Alex Skidmore moderated the discussion about how the developers wanted combat to look and feel.
There are three different play styles in role-playing games. As expected, Strategic Rogues will sneak up on their enemies, catching them off guard and knocking them down before they realize they’re under attack. Hit and run tactics are also an option with this style.
Action Brawler takes the exact opposite approach. “Any clan can fight, but this is where Bruja shines,” Skidmore wrote. “Their powers are designed to dominate melee combat… It’s about being in the center of the brawl and using your abilities to control the crowd so you can do as much damage as possible.
The third style, well, this one doesn’t even seem to care about combat. Narrative adventurers are in it just for the story, without diving into the combat system.Skidmore also writes that you can mix and match elements of the other two fighting styles to create your own unique vampire fighting style

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is scheduled to release later this year on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
