The US released the identity of the suspect in the mass shooting in California

Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna said Wednesday that investigators have confirmed that the man was found dead inside a white pickup truck after confronting police in Torrance, California. (USA), is the suspect in the mass shooting in the city of Monterey Park on the night of January 21, 2023.

Earlier, 10 people were killed and at least 10 others were hospitalized for treatment in a shooting at the Dance Star Studio dance club in Monterey Park, California.

The incident occurred on New Year’s Eve, turning the Lunar New Year party night into an obsession for the people of Monterey Park, California, where the majority of Asian Americans live.

This white pickup truck was discovered by police on the morning of January 22 in the parking lot outside a grocery store in Torrance. The police rapid response force (SWAT) surrounded the vehicle for several hours, then approached and searched the vehicle with a bulletproof vehicle and found the suspect sitting motionless in the driver’s seat.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff, the suspect in the shooting is 72-year-old Huu Can Tran. The suspect committed suicide with a gun. Huu Can Tran was identified as the sole suspect in the shooting.

US authorities have not determined the suspect’s motive for the crime, other information about the suspect’s background has not been released.

This mass shooting is one of the worst gun BL incidents in the state of California in recent times.

The mayor of Monterey Park, Henry Lo, said: “We can say that justice has been done… but this is just the beginning. Our priority is to make sure those victims, their family members, get the support they need to heal and get over their trauma.”

US President Joe Biden and California Governor Gavin Newsom condemned the shooting, as well as the state of gun violence in the US. Biden ordered the flags to be flown at half-staff at the White House and federal buildings until January 26 in memory of the victims of the Monterey Park shooting.
