In a television interview with the Saudi journalist, Ghaleb Kamel, Nightingale Al-Asmar Abdel Halim Hafez revealed in 1973 the wages he was receiving in the early seventies of the last century in exchange for starring in a movie.

Abdel Halim Hafez said that the artist is in constant need of developing himself and not standing to a specific artistic level, as it is a view of the masses with whom he lives, no matter how great successes or wide fame he achieves.

And Nightingale Al-Asmar added that talent and study are an important currency for the artist.

And the brown nightingale revealed that he had paid a large sum that was enough for a prince to live, but he spent it on those close to him and in his treatment, a pound as a wage in exchange for joining the work team for one movie, and this does not happen every month or two or three months, but rather he participates every two or three years for one championship. Only, Abdel Halim Hafez cited his last movie, “My Father Over the Trees”, which was produced in 1970, three years ago from the date of the interview.

Abdel Halim Hafez confirmed that his high wages helped the producers to hire a group of professors such as “Hani Shaker, Muharram Fouad and Maher Al Attar” due to the difficulty of paying fifty thousand pounds to the brown nightingale in exchange for participating in a work every month.

And Al-Andalib Al-Asmar explained that the artistic field is open to everyone and that he remained ill for four years and was unable to present a single artwork, whether it was singing or acting. Nobody reported anything in the press.
