The West’s Lack of Ammunition Support for Ukraine: Former US General Ben Hodges Speaks Out

Former US General Ben Hodges takes a hard line against the West. “Ukraine has almost no ammunition left, and Europe and the USA are not willing to raise their ammunition production to a new level,” he criticizes “Editorial Network Germany” (RND).

“Ukraine’s nightmare scenario is now becoming a reality,” warns the 65-year-old. Russia is increasing its attacks while the other side has to ration its artillery shells. Attacks would be made impossible – and holding positions would also be made more difficult.

Ben Hodges has a bone to pick with the West over its lack of support for Ukraine.

Compared to the summer, Kiev can only fire ten percent of the corresponding ammunition. Everything is missing, says Hodegs. The almost 10,000 155-millimeter grenades that Germany has just delivered would only last for two days.

The fact that Germany, France and Great Britain are no longer producing ammunition is “ridiculous,” says Hodges: “There is a lack of political will.” The political dispute over Ukraine-Hilde in the USA and the delivery of Taurus cruise missiles in Germany show Putin and his comrades “that their strategy is working”.

“The problem is that there is no common definition of victory,” says the chairman of the Ukraine delegation in the European Parliament, Witold Waszczykowski, to the RND. “For Ukraine, victory means the defeat of Russia and the liberation of all occupied territories, while many Western heads of state already see the repelling of Russian attacks as a victory.”
