The Slovakian company DEEP has successfully modified the Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max to fully work with a USB-C port.
Many iPhone owners have long waited for Apple to add the more popular and well-known USB-C port to their iPhone, as they did in the iPad Pro or MacBook. Especially Pro smartphone users who want a single cable for all the devices they use on a daily basis. We decided to at least partially satisfy this desire and offer the original Apple iPhone mobile phone with a USB-C port instead of the original Lightning port.
And the Slovak company shared a video of the process of converting the iPhone 12 Pro Max charging port into a USB C port, to be able to charge and transfer data through this new port.
And the Slovak company, Deep, succeeded in modifying the Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max by adding a USB-C connector. Remember, two iPhone X smartphones with a USB-C connector have already been sold.
After unlocking the phone and removing the Lightning port flex cable, measurements are taken of the USB-C connector so that it can be installed in the iPhone 12 Pro Max. After removing the gasket from the Lightning port, the remaining slot is barely enough to fit the USB-C connector with the original MFi chip inside. To do this, the amplifier unit is slightly saved. Once assembled, the iPhone 12 Pro Max with USB-C port is ready to go.
The device has been tested and is fully functional. It works with iTunes, the volume is connected to your Mac and charges properly using the original Apple charger using a USB-C cable.
The device is now available on eBay, with auctions starting Thursday at $1,350 and ending March 6, 2022.
It is noteworthy that it is not the first time that the iPhone charging port has been converted from a traditional Lightning port to USB C, as it was the first attempt in the world in November, Swiss robotics student Ken Bellonel managed to modify the iPhone X to work with a USB-C port and sold The device is on eBay to a winning bidder for $86,001. It should be noted that the USB-C iPhone X of Pillonel is not upgradable, and it cannot be restored or reset.
On the other hand, DEEP’s modified iPhone appears to be plug and play mode as it has an MFi chip. It is not clear if the DEEP application can be reset or updated. We’re also curious to know if the modified iPhone is still waterproof.
