Stay with the locals
The CRT of Fez then created a few years ago a program within the framework of the INDH entitled “Ziyarat Fez or Ziyara Tidjani”, where the pilgrims who come for the ziyara can “stay in about fifty houses, at the inhabitant”, adds Ahmed Sentissi. This allows tourists to “benefit from cheap accommodation, they pay between 100 to 200 dirhams maximum per person”, indicates our interlocutor. At the same time, this initiative allows “families who gravitate around the mausoleum and in the medina to live on subsidies that they collect during the visit of pilgrims”, notes the manager.
On the other hand, the brotherhood of Tidjanes has a political connotation “indirectly”, since it shows “the influence of Morocco, through the city of Fez and the brotherhood of Tidjanes” in the countries of West Africa. where there is a “strong Tidjane community”.
