“There may be a difference of two euros, we are really starting to be cash cows!”

It was a surprised John who left Colruyt in Middelkerke after shopping there. “We notice that the prices are cheaper on the Coast”, he tells our colleagues from RTL-Info. “There may be a two euro difference on a product from the same brand, however. We started taking pictures to realize that. We are really starting to be cash cows! »

If the situation may surprise, it is not new. As we already explained to you in 2021, shopping is indeed more expensive in Wallonia than in Flanders. And the reason behind this difference is simple: there is much less competition between Walloon supermarkets. In some Flemish stores, such as Albert Heijn and Jumbo, the prices are so competitive that Colruyt is forced to adjust its prices.
