Vienna – The bus industry is suffering from a driver shortage; in the next five years there will be a shortage of 5,000 drivers due to upcoming retirements and increased part-time work, according to the chairman of the Vienna specialist group, Ludwig Richard. The Vienna Chamber of Commerce and the AMS now want to counteract this with a training offensive. “Anyone who wants to become a bus driver will have their training fully financed,” says the chamber. The job of bus driver is now on the list of shortages – despite a gross minimum wage of 2,800 euros.
