The AvtoVAZ company, in cooperation with the Renault concern, has been working for a long time on the project of a completely new Lada Niva, which was going to be built on the CMF B-LS platform. The project was brought almost to the pre-final stage, but ultimately closed due to lack of resources after the departure of the French.
However, it seems that the new “Niva” is still destined to see the light of day. But it will not be the same Niva-3 that was originally planned.
According to the insider public Avtopotok, citing its own source, the idea of releasing the Lada Niva-3 has not gone away, because after 2030 the company will need to think about how to replace the too outdated Niva Legend and Niva Travel by this time.
According to journalists, the project to develop a new promising SUV at AvtoVAZ has already been opened, but so far this is the starting stage:
“The dimensions have not even been approved yet. The car, which was made together with the French on the basis of Duster, turned out to be quite large. Now in Togliatti they are inclined to a dimension slightly larger than the current Niva Travel.”
Recall that it was assumed that the project of the new generation Lada Niva, developed with the participation of Renault, would be ready by the end of 2024. Together with her, an enlarged version of this SUV was being prepared under the name Grand Niva, but its premiere was to take place no earlier than mid-2025.
