Emilio and Liria got married last Saturday in Villa Carlos Paz. The ceremony was in the municipal Civil Registry and there was a party in a restaurant in San Antonio de Arredondo. So far, the story is similar to that of any couple who decides to “take the plunge” and formalize a marriage relationship on paper.

But when the information is added that Emilio Bussano is 90 years old and that Liria Gorordo turned 83, things change and become even more striking when it is known that the lovers met through Tinder, the most used dating platform in the world. .

For Emilio it was his granddaughter Sofía who created the social network profile because she always knew that her grandfather is not a man who can get used to being alone.

Gustavo, one of Liria’s sons, was the “culprit” of uploading his mother’s photos to Tinder and the phone began to get “likes” from fans from all over the country and even from Spain.

The issue is that Emilio is from Carlos Paz and Liria lived in Casilda (Santa Fe). So after “matching” they began to get to know each other through long phone conversations. They called each other a couple of times a week until Liria wanted to travel to meet Emilio. She was accompanied by a daughter and the “crush” -they say- was confirmed that day.

Another day, Emilio made the decision to go look for Liria in Casilda so that she could come and live with him in Carlos Paz, prior to the engagement and marriage proposal.

Liria had five children with her first husband, whom she divorced. She then became a couple again until in 2014 she became a widow. Emilio had two children with his first wife and when he became a widower he remarried; his second wife died last year.

The Tinder Match

Sofía, the matchmaker on Emilio’s side, assures that her grandfather is a man who does not like to be alone. “I didn’t know where to find him a girlfriend because he is a very well-off man. I have many acquaintances in Carlos Paz and I asked them if they didn’t have a friend to introduce him to, but no one appeared. So, one night with my sister we told him that we were going to download Tinder and he asked what that was,” Sofía said. “Now we have to uninstall the application,” says Sofía with a laugh.

“When Liria appeared with her photos in the snow or on the beach, he said: ‘Ah, what a beautiful woman,'” adds the granddaughter who intervened until she got Liria’s phone number.

For the woman, meanwhile, it was her son Gustavo who set up her profile on the dating app. “I suggested setting up Tinder because she was alone and didn’t go out as much, so it was a way to make up for those outings,” she says. With Emilio, the distance was a stumbling block, but then it was overcome. “The engine was that they found themselves in the same tune, they needed to be in the company of a couple, because they both have company and they are the children and grandchildren,” she commented.

what do they say about the other

Emilio points out that there are many things that linked him to Liria. ”We agree on many things, we both like to go out, dance, music. So, I thought it would be good to try, ”says the 90-year-old newlywed, and his granddaughter supports him:“ I never saw my grandfather as red as I see him now, ”he points out.

On Liria’s part, joy is important: “We agree on many things, we like to laugh, listen to music and be as happy as possible,” he says. And he continues: “Many things have happened to me in life. I tell guys that things happen because they have to. You have to grieve and continue because there is a rest of the family and life goes on.

Emilio looks at her and points out: “I don’t like being alone. My kids have their lives and I don’t want to interrupt.”

A Río Segundo orchestra performed at the wedding party. The two families met there and realized that Emilio and Liria seem “just the same”.

Neither of them knew about the dating app. In “the days before” the place and the moment to get to know each other were the dances. “Mothers and mothers-in-law went,” says Liria.

In Carlos Paz, the couple lives their first days of love and they hope to “gather a few pesos” for the honeymoon. “But the important thing is to be together”, emphasizes Emilio.
