He underlined, among other things, that the issues are specific and essentially concern the possibility of farmers and their families surviving and staying in their fields “along with the issues of the revision of the CAP, which the farmers put and which the rulers have responsibilities , as ND, SYRIZA and PASOK voted for it”.
He reminded that the KKE was only warning about the consequences of the CAP.
Regarding the abandonment of the land, he said that the EU’s claims about the welfare of the farmers, proved not only lies, but “from one year to the next we go from bad to worse with the EU and its policies”.
“So, we have to draw conclusions as a people, what we choose to do in the European elections, what we choose to do in the parliamentary elections, who we should strengthen. The KKE cannot be confirmed in everything, in its warnings, in its proposals, for everyone to say that you were right in that, you were right in the other, and we come back to find ourselves not just in one of the same, but in a worse situation than the previous one,” he emphasized.
D. Koutsoumbas, when asked about the agricultural mobilizations in Crete, said, among other things, that “some here from the farmers’ trade union movement are ‘resting'” about the possibility of tourism covering losses from agricultural production.
“If they think so, we tell them frankly that they are wrong. They will pay dearly for it. And they will pay it in tourism, they will pay it in the development of the rest of the economy and the services offered. They cannot leave agricultural and livestock production,” he stressed.
When asked about the open fronts of Health and Education, which he characterized as “one of the biggest in the whole country”, D. Koutsoubas mentioned, among other things, “what was done in Health with the strengthening of the private sector and with the various nonsense they said, that the public and the private sector can coexist and ended up being discredited continuously and gradually, overall the public sector and the private sector strengthened, this will also happen in universities. D. Koutsoumbas described the developments in national issues as “dangerous” and denounced the involvement of the country “under the responsibility of the SYRIZA government and today of the ND government” in the war conflicts and the acute rivalries raging in the wider region.
“And at the same time you have the concessions, with unacceptable compromises on a road map, which are initiated by both the USA and NATO and in essence promote in the background an unacceptable concession for the co-exploitation of the Aegean, with the simultaneous granting of sovereign rights and the sovereignty of still Greek islands” he added.
“Well, then, the Greek people must face the situation. They are leading us down dangerous roads and of course we must say again and shout, and I believe that the Cretan people also have such an important reason to shout again ‘no frigates in the Red Sea’! No trust in those who have brought here, with the consent of all governments, military bases of death, no participation in wars. Only peace, only peaceful coexistence of peoples is the solution. And that is where the struggle of both the Greek people and the Cypriot people must be led. Why do we see issues like the Cyprus issue receding and leaving the agenda of the rulers” he stressed.
