A trucker was arrested by members of the National Gendarmerie when he was transporting 31 million pesos hidden in the vehicle’s tool box.
The Federal Justice labeled the case as alleged money laundering in an investigation that will continue to determine the reasons for carrying that high amount.
The arrest occurred during a routine road control in the Toll La Paz de Mendoza. The Mercedes Benz brand truck came from Río Cuarto, Córdoba.
The gendarmes inspected the cargo and there they discovered in the toolbox six packages with silver that amounted to a total of 31 million pesos.
The officers questioned the driver about the origin of the money but the man was unable to legally document the reasons for moving that money.
In view of this situation, they notified the AFIP and Federal Court No. 3 of Mendozto that he requested the confiscation of the 31 million when he understood that it was a smuggling case.
