This Wednesday there were new developments in the case for the death of journalist Débora Pérez Volpin, in the allegations. The Prosecutor’s Office and the complaint requested three years in prison for the former director of the Sanatorio de la Trinidad, Roberto Martingano, for the alleged cover-up and for false testimony in the case of the instrumentalist Eliana Frías.
The hearing was suspended, due to the extension of the presentations of the accusing parties and the Oral Criminal and Correctional Court No. 26 ordered that the defense plead next Wednesday, and then announce the day the verdict will be issued.
Firstly, the complaining lawyer, Diego Pirota, requested three years in prison for concealment and ten years of disqualification from holding the position of medical director for Martingano and three for the instrumentalists Frías for false testimony.
Then prosecutor Diana Goral requested three years in prison and ten years of disqualification for Martingano; and three years for the instrumenter, Eliana Frías and six years of disqualification for false testimony.
While the defender Vadim Mischanchuk must develop his argument next Wednesday, November 22, in which, it is presumed, he will promote the acquittal of both.

At the same time, he also requested that the owner of the Biotrust company be investigated, who “provided false documentation when he came to testify; trying to deceive the judge into believing that the sale of that medical equipment was carried out by his firm, which never sold medical equipment.
In addition, he spoke out in favor of the extraction of testimonies for the commission of crimes against public health, since “the deletion of the serial number of the endoscopy equipment is without a doubt the adulteration of active medical equipment (says the ANMAT) , which could have caused the death of a patient.

Débora Pérez Volpin died on February 6, 2018 at the Sanatorio la Trinidad, in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Palermo, following the intervention performed by endoscopist Diego Bialolenkier.
