For the first time in Ñuble, the “Regional Working Group on Forestry and Agricultural Insurance” was established, made up of representatives of the public and private sectors, to raise local demands regarding forestry and agricultural insurance subsidized by the State and to draw up a roadmap with the aim of update and improve coverage in the region.
In attendance were the Ñuble Farmers Association, the San Carlos Farmers Association, the Municipal Productive Development Association, Copelec, representatives of the vineyard, rice, raspberry and berry producers, and the Perquilauquén River Surveillance Board; as well as Indap, SAG, FIA and Agroseguros. This is the second table to be established at the regional level, after La Araucanía.
The executive director of Agroseguros, Alberto Niño de Zepeda, specified that they will carry out an essential task to provide guidance and advice to Agroseguros regarding the operation of insurance in the region.
“The idea of launching this table is to permanently review the design of the different insurance policies so that they adapt to the reality of the region, particularly given the effects of climate change,” he said.
This table is chaired by the Seremi of Agriculture, Antonio Arriagada and will have the support of Agroseguros. “Insurance should be seen as another tool for agriculture, especially when we work in a context of climate change, with fluctuations that generate uncertainty in the work our farmers do,” said Arriagada.
In 2023, 1,913 policies with state subsidies were contracted in Ñuble, the fourth highest number in the country.
