An official source revealed new details about the Egyptian doctor, Ayman Abdel Salam, who was shot by a Saudi citizen at his workplace in the city of Qassim, Saudi Arabia.
The source told Masrawy that the doctor, “Ayman”, underwent surgery today, Sunday, to extract the bullet from his chest, and the projectile was extracted and his condition is now stable, pointing out that he is currently in intensive care at Buraidah Central Hospital, to be released from it tomorrow, Monday.
The injured Egyptian doctor at the Saudi Ministry of Health works as director of the poison center in Al-Qassim region, north of Saudi Arabia, and he is 60 years old.
The details of the incident date back to 6 days ago, when the Egyptian doctor was subjected to an attack by a Saudi person from the Qassim region, against the background of his brother’s death, due to the presence of a criminal suspicion in the death. The Public Prosecution decided to autopsy the body, and in implementation of the prosecution’s decision, the forensic doctor performed the autopsy and prepared reports.
Doctor “Ayman” did not perform the autopsy on his own, but was assaulted at his workplace, as the perpetrator thought that the Egyptian doctor had performed the autopsy on his brother’s body. The doctor received these blows on his arm, causing a broken arm, and he will undergo an arm operation tomorrow.
The Labor Representation Office at the Egyptian Consulate General in Riyadh is following up the doctor’s case with his family, who are currently with him in Saudi Arabia, until his safe discharge from the hospital and obtaining all his rights.
The Saudi authorities arrested the Saudi citizen, and he has been imprisoned, and he will be subject to trial in accordance with Saudi law.
