This Monday began the trial for the crime of Facundo Castillo, the young man run over at the exit of a party in Cipolleti. Ramiro Gutiérrez is the only defendant and the decision on whether he is guilty or innocent will be made by a popular jury. During the intermission, the judge was notified that someone from the defendant’s environment would be divulging photographs of the popular jury. Immediately, the magistrate asked those present to leave the room, except for the defense and relatives of the accused. One of his relatives was excluded from the room.

At 9 o’clock the trial for the crime of Facundo Castillo began. In the hearing room, the defense, the complaint, the popular jury and family members wait to see the evidence to determine what happened the night that Facundo Castillo died.

After the opening arguments, the judge who is conducting the process decided to hold a fourth intermission. After that time it would be the turn of the witnesses, and the trial by popular jury would continue.

However, not everything went as planned. During the fourth intermission, the judge was notified that someone close to Ramiro Gutiérrez had taken photographs where the identity of the members of the popular jury was known.

The judge asked that all those present vacate the courtroom, except for the defense. There they debated for a few minutes and the judge recalled the importance of protecting the identity of the members of the jury.

Finally it was learned that the person who took the photograph was a relative of Gutiérrez. “This person was excluded from the room by agreement of both parties. If it happens again, you can incur a crime of disobedience to a court order and the person will be arrested immediately,” the judge said before the courtroom.
