A confrontation between gangs has kept the inhabitants of Barrancas del Orinoco in Monagas state in anxiety since the early hours of January 1.
The police forces have not been able to regain control of the area, as reported from the scene. Apparently with the arrival of the New Year, the confrontation with high-caliber weapons and grenades began, according to what was published in the Monagas Newspaper.
Apparently the reason for the exchange of fire is for control of the area between two sides. Locals say that so far there have been several deaths and more than a dozen injured.
In the place where the confrontations began, a party was held that was interrupted by the shots, which led people to run in search of their lives.
