Three men, of Argentine, Chilean and Spanish nationality, and a Venezuelan woman They were rescued with the beginning of freezing on El Mercedario hill, in the province of San Juan, the Gendarmerie reported this Saturday.
Personnel from the force managed to rescue the four people – who They presented notorious physical deterioration, signs of frostbite in their extremities, some even on his face, burns and dehydration- in the area of the high Andean valleys, 6,720 meters above sea level.
The four people had difficulty descending by their own means, due to the low temperatures and the intense white wind in the area.
Last Thursday, in the afternoon, a message was received telephone call in the guard of Squadron 26 “Barreal” in which a citizen stated that he had had satellite telephone communication with a woman of Venezuelan nationality, who was with the other three people on El Mercedario hill, in the sector called “El diente”.
Given the urgency of the situation, the operation was activated, which lasted 26 hours in the middle of the adverse weather and the white wind of the area. The gendarmes managed to meet with the citizens last Friday afternoon.
The gendarmes provided first aid. and continued with the descent on foot, until reaching the refuge called “Laguna Blanca”.
This Saturday morning people managed to get to the hospital location for medical care.
