Officials of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (Fanb) are still deployed in the south of Bolívar state, where they seized dollars in cash and gold.
According to the information published by General in Chief Domingo Hernández Lárez, Strategic Operational Commander of the Fanb, they aim to deactivate criminal groups linked to illegal trafficking and extraction in protected areas.
On Guyanese soil, military personnel seized $3,140 and 2,126 kilograms of molten gold.
In the same deployment, they retained an electronic scale, two laptop computers, a video recording DVR, and 68.36 grams of unmelted gold material.

Hernández Lárez reported through his official accounts on social networks that “all criminal sentry boxes” used by the armed gang “las 3R” in Bolívar state were destroyed.
These checkpoints were identified as logistical structures “used to undermine the environment in forest reserves.”
The criminal group has been singled out for its activities in illegal mining, whose members will be “legally intervened”, according to what was published by the Strategic Operational Commander of the Fanb.
Military troops continue to be deployed in Operation Bolivarian Shield 2022, Autana, Roraima and Wara, in Guyana.
The objective of said deployment is the “eradication of the armed groups of illegal mining and drug trafficking, which destroy ecosystems and forests protected by the State.”
Clandestine deposit in Amazonas
A Fanb commission found a clandestine deposit in Amazonas, where they hid around 15,500 liters of fuel used for illegal mining activities in the area.
