Lawyer Iván Lizarazo will file a criminal complaint against presidential candidate Gustavo Petro before the Supreme Court of Justice, after the senator published a tweet in which he asked his followers if they were going to receive money in exchange for their votes, they did but vote for him.
“The complaint is focused on the fact that in the media and on his Twitter account, Petro encourages the population to receive money or food products to vote for him. That fact is a crime that is configured in the criminal code as instigating a crime and goes hand in hand with corruption of the vote, “said the lawyer.
He mentioned that the lawsuit is left to the judgment of the magistrates who will have to determine if there is room for an investigation.
“You can’t jokingly incite people to commit a crime, especially when he talks about transparency, that he goes against corruption and talks about change. He must be consistent with what he does, “said Lizarazo.
In the trill of the presidential candidate, published this Saturday, it reads: “Through all the networks that are available, ask people that if they are going to receive money from vote buyers, they do so but vote for Petro or for the Pact.”
This trill caused discomfort by allegedly promoting an illegal activity. Given the fact Daniel Palacios, Minister of the Interior, rejected these statements arguing that one cannot be soft with the crime: “The purchase of votes is a crime and must be denounced.”
