Colombia widened this Monday its difference in the general classification of the Valledupar 2022 Bolivarian Games by adding 21 medals to its account, of which eight were gold.
With the results of the fifth day of competitions, the hosts have already accumulated 29 gold, 25 silver and 17 bronze medals.
The national delegation shone in bowling, climbing to the top of the podium in the men’s and women’s events. Elissa Gallego shone in the equestrian discipline, ranking first in the mixed individual all-around event.
Fencing continued to bring gold medals. The women’s saber team won the final against Venezuela and delivered another gold.
In artistic gymnastics, a sport dominated by the local team, Andrés Felipe Martínez (pommel horse) and Kristopher Bohórquez (rings) gave Colombia two joys at the Coliseo Universidad Popular del Cesar.
Karate was also reported with a gold, as the men’s Kumité team beat Ecuador in the final.
The last one to claim the gold medal was Miguel Ángel Rodríguez, who defeated his compatriot Juan Camilo Vargas 3-0, at the El Salitre Sports University.
They also increased the difference over the Venezuelan delegation, which has 16 gold metals on its account.
In the accumulated, the leaders are followed by Chile, with eleven golds and Peru, with nine.

Bogotá (water skiing, squash and equestrian), Cali (track cycling), Chimchakuy (canoeing, rowing, open water swimming and triathlon) and Cundinamarca (sport shooting, sailing, golf and handball) will be the sub-headquarters of this sporting event.

The jousting that takes place in our country and that brings together 13 countries of the continent began this Friday, June 24, and will go until July 5. Colombia hopes to continue reaping medals that will crown it as champion for the third consecutive year, as it did in Trujillo 2013 and Santa Marta 2017.
