– What does an entrerriano do for these payments, here in Conesa?

– Being happy, doing what I like most, which is producing the land.

These were the first words that “Río Negro” had with Cristian Muñoz, manager of the Kaitaco Establishmentin Conesa, where months ago he surprised the entire country with the yield of soybeans in this valley of Río Negro.

What was the news that led us to talk to this protagonist of our agriculture? Months ago, Patagonia achieved a record in soybean yield. And that was here in Conesa where in an establishment linked to the Argentine Association of Direct Sowing Producers (Aapresid) A yield of 6.4 tons per hectare could be harvested.

The VINPA Patagonian Farm Aapresid set a new yield record, this time in soybeans. After harvesting wheat weighing 10 tons, corn weighing 15 tons, and vetches weighing 6 tons of dry matter, a group of producers managed to reach oilseed yield peaks of 6.4 tons per hectare.

“We can be the breadbaskets of the world again,” Cristian Muñoz comments to “Río Negro” from a field planted with wheat, in Conesa, Río Negro.

“In Kaitaco, in Conesa, batch yields of up to 5,600 kilos per hectare were obtained with peaks of up to 6,400 kilos per hectare in manual sampling,” he told the national press. Alfonso Cerrota, Technical Manager of Farm Development, adding that these values were not generalized in all environments of La Chacra.

What was the key? “The key comes from 12 years of agriculture, of which 4-5 had soybeans in rotation with a double dose of inoculation, a situation that favors the progressive nodulation of the new crops and the performance of the lot,” the entity stated.

The VINPA Farm of Aspresid was created in 2011 with the purpose of turning this Conesa valley into a productive development hub.

Aapresid’s VINPA Farm emerged in 2011 with the aim of promoting “generative” agriculture in the North Patagonian desert and converting the region into a pole of productive development.

Despite the challenging conditions, such as low rainfall and poorly developed and saline soils, Aapresid highlighted that the region has a very high potential given the temperature and radiation conditions, and the availability of good quality water from the Negro River. .

Cultivating the land has always been a great strategic value for living in this territory. And results like this, at the Kaitaco establishment, confirm it. Sustainability and food sovereignty go hand in hand by creating new investment expectations in this region that has Conesa as its epicenter.

“This job in Conesa represents an enormous challenge for me since I arrived in the area. I had to get to know the people, their culture, the movements, the values. I had to discover new things to be able to start this whole project, with a whole team alongside me,” Muñoz tells “Río Negro”.

With 11 years of residence here, “I already feel like I belong in the area, a place that has allowed me to raise my family and where I also have many well-known people who support me and make us feel loved,” he adds.

“This is the only way to move forward in this project that I saw being born. I have the shirt on it 100%. Despite the shortage of suppliers in the sector, plus some limitations of the situation, our firm is committed to moving forward in this beautiful Conesa valley. The key to success for me is doing what you like. And I’m doing what I like.”

The challenges from now on? “Follow the vision of the project and the company, which would be to constantly improve ourselves, learn from mistakes; in this way shorten the path to future projects and future producers, taking advantage of the high productive values that this valley has. Maybe it sounds a little ambitious but I think that in the medium to short term we should once again be the breadbasket of the world. I think we are on the right path: at least that is what I see working and producing from Conesa.”

Throughout the talk, Cristian Muñoz gave superlative value to the work of Conesino agronomist engineer Roberto Gutiérrezwho is part of the leadership and day-to-day work at Kaitaco.
