Imagine the most “voracious” CO2 microalgae placed in an ambient air absorption and treatment column. It is with this concept that BiomiTech wants to establish itself in CO2 capture. The Aix-en-Provence (Bouches-du-Rhône) company presented two devices at the CES in Las Vegas in January, with marketing planned for the year. “With BioUrban 1, we are aiming for the interior purification of offices, open spaces, hotels and restaurants, housing 25 to 30 people, from a module which only occupies 1 m² on the ground for 1.80 m² height, explains CEO Franck Schenaerts. BioUrban 2 has a dual function of interior and exterior purification. IIt measures 4.20 meters in height for 6 m² on the ground, and is intended more for air pollution control in urban areas. The tower can absorb up to 80% of the CO2 present.” This could also be used for the decarbonization of industry.
