This Friday, April 12, the National Soccer Federation of Guatemala announced the official roster of an Under 18 team that will travel to Turkey to participate in a Uefa Friendship Tournaments 2024.
This event is part of a series of friendly tournaments endorsed by UEFA and which seek for youth footballers to gain experience playing at an international level against teams from other confederations.
The edition in which Guatemala will participate will be held at the Sense De Luxe Sports Complex in Antalya, Turkey and will feature eight national teams members of five different confederations such as the AFC (Asia), CAF (Africa), Concacaf (North America, Central America and the Caribbean ), Conmebol (South America) and Uefa (Europe).
Marvin Cabrera will be the coach in charge of the Guatemala National Team that will travel with a base of players in the Under 20 category who will seek qualification for the 2025 World Cup between July and August.
The national team will integrate Group B where they will have to measure against Ecuador, Morocco and Slovakia. While Group A is made up of Jamaica, Mali, Saudi Arabia and the local Türkiye.
The order of the group stage matches for the bicolor is as follows:
- Guatemala vs Ecuador, Monday, April 22, 7:30 a.m.
- Morocco vs Guatemala, Wednesday, April 24, 2:30 a.m.
- Slovakia vs Guatemala, Saturday April 27, 3 hours
After the group phase is over, an extra phase will be played to determine the final positions of the teams in the tournament. This will be held on Tuesday, April 30.
