FORMER Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel will coach the England national team to fill the position currently held by Lee Carsley. Tuchel has agreed to become England’s next coach.
According to reports BBCTuchel confirmed agreeing to the deal. He will be the third permanent coach of the Three Lions Team from outside England after Sven-Goran Eriksson and Fabio Capello.
England have been without a permanent coach since Gareth Southgate resigned following defeat in the Euro 2024 final against Spain. England U-21 coach Lee Carsley was then appointed by the FA on an interim basis.
Carsley will still be in charge for England’s final two matches in the UEFA Nations League against Greece and Ireland in November.
After that, Tuchel will officially take over the position of coach. Tuchel’s main target is to lead England to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
Tuchel is no stranger to English football because he coached Chelsea between January 2021 and September 2022.
The 51-year-old German coach won the Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup trophies with the Blues before being sacked. (Z-6)
