This weekend at TN Autos, Matías Antico thoroughly tests the new Chevrolet Montana, the most recent model belonging to one of the “hottest” segments of the Argentine market, that of compact pickups.

Produced in Brazil, the General Motors model shares a platform and engine with the national Tracker and is available through a range made up of two versions. We got into the Premier, the most expensive and equipped.

What is the new Chevrolet Montana like?
It is a pick-up with a monocoque structure and a double cab body that has exterior dimensions such as 4.72 meters long, 1.88 meters wide and 2.80 meters long between the axles. In addition, it has a cargo box with a volume of 874 liters and supports 585 kilograms of weight in the Premier version (in the LTZ it rises to 600 kg).
The only engine in the range is the 1.2 turbo gasoline engine with three cylinders that delivers a power of 132 horsepower and a torque of 190 Nm. In the two versions available in Argentina it is associated with the six-speed automatic transmission, while the drive is front.

The equipment of the Montana LTZ includes LED daytime running lights, 17-inch alloy wheels, mixed upholstery (fabric and leather), multifunction steering wheel with leather, air conditioning, multimedia system with 8″ touch screen, keyless entry, push-button ignition , stability and traction controls, six airbags and rear camera.
The Montana Premier we tested adds LED headlights, blacked-out alloy wheels, automatic climate control, black leather upholstery, a blind-spot indicator, and a wireless phone charger.

The German brand’s model has the latest transversal modular platform (MQB evo) and has grown in size compared to its predecessor. It is 4,917 millimeters long, 1,852 mm wide and 2,841 mm long between the axles. In addition, its interior offers more space, a digital dashboard, a touch screen of up to 15 inches and a larger trunk, with 690 liters.
Other novelties are present in the mechanics, which contains TSI gasoline options with 204 and 265 HP, TDI turbodiesel with 122, 150 or 193 HP and a mild hybrid with 150 HP. The range also has plug-in hybrid versions with 204 or 272 horsepower and up to 100 km of electric range. The drive, for its part, is front or integral 4Motion.
