O Threads, Meta’s new social network, is facing difficulties to become popular in Brazil. Second a survey carried out by Opinion Boxalmost half (48%) of the 2,190 Brazilians interviewed said they had never even heard of the platform.

Despite an attempt to compete with X (formerly Twitter) by incorporating similar elements, the social network has faced an early decline in its active users. In fact, the network usage time reached cair 50% just a week after its meteoric launch.

Among the survey respondents who are familiar with Threads, 40% said they do not have and do not intend to create an account on the platform. The survey also revealed that 14% of respondents are active users of the new social network.

Opinion Box investigated the reasons behind the reluctance to embrace Threads. Of the participants, 29% stated that they did not like how the social network works and 24% said they preferred X.

With regard to future prospects, only 46% of respondents in Brazil believe Threads will be globally successful, while a slight majority (54%) believes that the platform will not be able to overcome the network commanded by Elon Musk. Furthermore, 20% mentioned that they didn’t understand how Threads operates, while 3% expressed concerns about the possibility of family members viewing their posts. ????

Meanwhile, Meta seeks to make Threads more attractive. One of the new features is greater integration with Instagram; now, for example, users can send posts directly to the other platform’s DMs.

The impact of this hard work, however, should only be visible in a few good months. For the time being, Meta has yet to officially comment on Threads’ receptivity in Brazil — and it should remain so.
