Three people have died in flooding after heavy rains in Guinea’s capital, Conakry. In the southeast of the city, two people were swept away by the flood waters, including a child under the age of ten, the civil protection service said on Friday.
A woman in her 50s died in her car after it fell off a bridge in the north of the city and went under, said Mamadou Camara of the AFP news agency’s civil protection service. The driver of the car was still missing.
Infrastructure Minister Gando Barry warned residents to stay away from risk areas. “When you settle in a flood area, you stop the water from draining normally,” Barry said, announcing actions to implement the recommendations.
