Météo France placed, Tuesday, June 13, between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m., the department of Bouches-du-Rhône in orange vigilance because of the risk of thunderstorms, rain and floods. The department then returned to yellow vigilance. Meteo France talked about thunderstorms with “locally very significant accumulations of precipitation” throughout the South, with hailstorms. These accumulations could reach 115 to 120 mm locally along the Durance and around 130 mm around Trets, a town in the north of the department, according to the forecaster.

Nearly 60 firefighter interventions

In the Bouches-du-Rhône, the meteorological agency was waiting “150 to 170 mm on the episode” et “40 to 50 mm on the Marseille agglomeration by 10 p.m.”. The department’s firefighters intervened 59 times at the end of the day, stating that several roads, homes and businesses were flooded, particularly in the north of the department, according to videos posted on social networks.
