Scott Haraguchi was in his kayak several miles off the coast of Kualoa on Windward Oahu, Hawaii, USA, when He captured the moment a tiger shark attacked him.
The man accidentally left his GoPro camera on after catching a fish. He did not know that the camera would capture a moment of terror that he had to live. In the video, a loud splash can be heard before the animal Jump out of the water and head straight for your kayak. Haraguchi can also be heard screaming for help, in a panic at the swimming predator.
“I looked up and saw this big brown thing. My brain thought it was a turtle, but then it hit me and I realized it was a tiger shark,” he said.
Fortunately, the man managed to kick the shark hitting him on the head with his foot. The footage is shocking, showing the unexpected leap of the shark and Haraguchi’s quick thinking as he defended himself.
A tiger shark can reach more than five meters in length. The species is second only to the great white in recorded fatal attacks on humans.
