Tissot intends to stay in Le Locle, assures its boss Sylvain Dolla

The Tissot watch manufacturer does not intend to leave Le Locle (NE) for Neuchâtel, where it has found premises, says its boss Sylvain Dolla. About thirty work places will be available in the cantonal capital.

“We are not going to lie to each other: Le Locle is not easy to access and this can limit certain desires to work in this city. But I want to emphasize that there is no question of leaving it”, specifies Mr. Dolla in an interview broadcast on Saturday by ArcInfo.

He recalls that the company already has remote offices in Biel (BE) and near Lausanne station. The new site in Neuchâtel, “one floor of 400 m2”, is located at passage Maximilien de Meuron, specifies the director of Tissot.

Despite the tensions on the job market, Tissot is still managing to recruit employees. “We are fortunate to be a company recognized for its products […] But that doesn’t stop us from having to offer flexibility to attract talent.”

2022, “an incredible year”

In accounting terms, the year 2022 has been “incredible” for Tissot, rejoices Mr. Dolla. Apart from China, because of the anti-Covid-19 confinements, and Russia, because of the war in Ukraine, “all the countries where we are present have achieved growth, some in double digits, with even records in many of them”.

The medium-term objective of the company is to exceed 4 million watches sold annually “and even, why not, six million”, adds the manager. To achieve this, Tissot wants to stay in the entry-level and mid-range segment. “Entry-level is now becoming a highway”, as many competitors are abandoning this segment by raising their prices, notes Mr. Dolla.

Tissot is part of the Swatch watch group. The latter recorded sales up 2.5% in 2022, to 7.45 billion francs.
