THE visit of the Chair of the National Campaign Team (TKN) Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Rosan P Roeslani to Megawati Soekarnoputri’s residence on Jalan Teuku Umar, Jakarta, on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijriah, Wednesday (10/4) was said to be an effort to strengthen the friendship between The General Chair of the PDI Perjuangan with Prabowo.
This was conveyed by the Deputy Chairperson of TKN Prabowo-Gibran, Afriansyah Noor to Indonesian Media, Thursday (11/4). According to him, Rosan and Megawati’s meeting was held in the context of Eid as fellow Muslims to forgive each other. He did not deny that reconciliation efforts were an issue that was raised at the meeting.
“Of course, if political people usually talk about the future, Indonesia (needs) reconciliation. Between Mr. Rosan and Mrs. Mega, of course there is a good relationship, they have maintained that relationship,” explained Afriansyah.
He also said that as Chair of TKN, Rosan also had his own goal to strengthen the friendship between Prabowo and Megawati. Moreover, cooperation is needed by all parties to realize Indonesia’s vision and mission in the future.
“The connection is that Mr. Rosan is the Chair of TKN, of course he also has a mission to strengthen the friendship between Mr. Prabowo and Ms. Mega to talk about Indonesia in the future,” he explained.
For Afriansyah, the friendship between TKN and political opponents during the 2024 President-Vice President election contest during Eid al-Fitr is a positive thing for the country’s political development. Therefore, his party also appreciates the planned meeting between the Chair of the National Winning Team (TPN) Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md, Arsjad Rasjid and Prabowo.

“Of course Mr Arsjad has also been close to Mr Prabowo. This is a good and positive thing in my opinion, and must be done for Indonesia in the future,” concluded Afriansyah.
The plan for friendship between Arsjad and Prabowo was first revealed by the Chairman of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly, Bambang Soesatyo, yesterday. Although he admitted that there was no certainty when the meeting would take place, Bambang said this had been communicated.
Megawati’s relationship with Prabowo itself experienced ups and downs in the world of Indonesian politics. The two of them were candidates for president and vice president in the 2009 presidential election, but lost to Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono-Boediono.

In the 2014 presidential election, Megawati through PDI Perjuangan nominated Joko Widodo as a presidential candidate accompanied by Jusuf Kalla. Prabwo and his deputy, Hatta Rajasa, are Jokowi-Kalla’s sole opponents.
With different representatives, Jokowi and Prabowo contested again in the 2019 presidential election. PDI Perjuangan remained the party that supported Jokowi at that time. It wasn’t until the 2024 presidential election that Prabowo received indirect support from Jokowi.
It is known that Jokowi’s eldest son, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, is Prabowo’s running mate. Meanwhile, PDI Perjuangan is supporting Ganjar-Mahfud. (Z-6)
