Preference for specialization

Meanwhile, Luis Del Carpio, director of Centrum Cathedra, points out that MBAs and specialized master’s degrees are the trending educational products for senior executives. “The most in demand are Analytics and Business, Supply Chain Management, Commercial and Financial Management. We believe that those are going to predominate,” he added.

Necessary investment

Executives usually spare no expense when it comes to expanding their range of knowledge, especially because they are aware that this will also lead to a greater ability to solve problems that arise in companies. In this sense, the UPC spokesperson details that a specialized master’s degree can cost between S/ 40,000 and S/ 65,000, an amount that will depend on the program and whether it incorporates international activities. However, he specifies that the payment is made throughout the two years that the course lasts.

The cost also varies depending on how long it lasts. According to the PAD spokesperson, the disbursement of senior executives for short courses can be between S/ 10,000 and S/ 40,000, amounts that they usually invest periodically to continue developing and stay updated.

“It lasts between three and four months at most. Normally they do not dedicate more than four hours a week to prepare. Time is really scarce at the level where they perform; This is an aspect that requires constant adaptation on the part of the school,” says Marañón.

For his part, Del Carpio mentions that the programs that are designed for this profile are prepared with the executives’ agendas in mind, which is why they turn out to be very flexible in terms of schedules and therefore the courses can be taught on weekends. , every fifteen days or even with intensive sessions.

Semi-presence gains ground

Regarding the modality in which senior executives study, this tends to be very variable; however, considering last-minute meetings that may be scheduled, the majority opt for semi-presentiality. According to Martín Marañón, in-person classes are important because they make better use of knowledge and generate a solid network of contacts.

“Part of the program is carried out in the classroom and the other with autonomous learning. This, for the student, is like having the best of both worlds: The in-person part allows them to integrate more quickly with the professors and their classmates, as well as use the campus services; while the autonomous part gives you the flexibility you need to manage your time effectively,” says Ricardo Pino, after adding that demand outside Lima is also booming.

Finally, the spokesperson for Centrum Cathedra adds that there is also the blended learning modality, which is 70% in-person and 30% virtual. “Personal relationships are still something that many executives do not want to abandon because networking is fundamental in these programs,” he concludes.
