Charlottesville, VA – Ryan Carmichael scored a first-half goal for No. 16 Hofstra but Virginia tied the score early in the second half as the Pride and Cavaliers played to a 1-1 draw Tuesday night at Klockner Stadium. It marked the second consecutive 1-1 draw between the two schools following an identical result last season.

Hofstra extended its unbeaten streak to 10 games and moved to 8-1-3 on the season. Virginia is 6-3-2.

Carmichael netted his 10th goal of the season at the 17:45 mark as he sent in a free kick from approximately 20 yards out, driving it over the wall into the left corner of the net. The Cavaliers scored the equalizer in the 58th minute, down a man, as Mouhameth Thiam took a pass from Jack Singer and sent a low shot from the right side through traffic that beat Hofstra keeper Wessel Speel on the left side.

Hofstra had several dangerous chances in the second half but Cavaliers keeper Joey Batrouni made three of his four saves in the final 45 minutes to preserve the tie. Speel made four saves, all in the opening half.

The Pride will return home Saturday for a Coastal Athletic Association match against Monmouth. Kickoff from Hofstra Soccer Stadium is set for 7 p.m.

Notes:

-Hofstra is 0-3-2 all-time against Virginia.
-The Pride played the final 34:51 up a man following a Virginia red card.
-Virginia had a 12-7 shot advantage, though both teams put five shots on goal.
-There were a combined 30 fouls called in the game.
-The tie snapped a four-game win streak for the Pride.
