According to details shared by Toulouse Deputy Mayor for Security Emilion Esnault, the suspect was heavily agitated and armed with multiple edged weapons, including an oyster knife.
When the officers stepped out of their vehicle, they initially managed to disarm the assailant. However, the man produced two additional concealed weapons, launching a sudden assault that left two officers with knife wounds to their arms and the neck. The patrol ultimately neutralized and detained the attacker by deploying a tear gas aerosol. Two of the injured officers, a man and a woman, were transported to the Toulouse-Rangueil University Hospital (CHU de Toulouse-Rangueil) for treatment of minor injuries and were subsequently discharged.
Recounting the severity of the confrontation, Emilion Esnault noted that the situation came dangerously close to a fatal outcome, praising the remarkable coolness and technical proficiency of the municipal agents who exercised restraint and refrained from using lethal force.
