Tour de la Madeleine: A Historic Parade and Festivities in Jumet

There were several hundred of them taking to the road at dawn to cover the kilometers of the Tour de la Madeleine procession. If the first kilometers took place in the rain, it was dry weather despite an overcast sky which saw the arrival of the various companies which, whether in music or not, traveled an immutable itinerary without weakening.

This Sunday, the jumettois had gathered with friends or family to see the troops parade with various themes. In front of the grandstand, all the walkers, young and old, took care to salute the hat and the sword of the late General Payen. Even if the Tour remains the major event of the festivities, the week promises to be long for the people of Jumet.

This Monday, July 24, as tradition dictates, the day is entirely devoted to another aspect of Jumet folklore: all morning, the companies of the march will take part in the military mass, at 10 a.m., then parade, in order, to the offering to Notre-Dame de Heigne. The followingnoon is occupied by a great moment for all the walkers: the presentation of seniority medals will start at 1 p.m. and end around 9:30 p.m. Musical entertainment will also punctuate the evenings.
