The birth of Toyota’s first electric vehicle is not without difficulty. Between recalls and sales at half mast, the bZ4X SUV is in difficulty.

Often under fire for its timid transition to electric, Toyota has reason to doubt. The Japanese manufacturer launched its first electric model this year, the bZ4X, but it is experiencing difficulties.

Toyota had halted production of the electric SUV and held a major recall for the model. Indeed, a risk of breaking a wheel could occur, and the brand had stopped everything to solve this problem.

Most the resumption of production at the beginning of October does not mark the end of the difficulties. Indeed, Toyota did not sell any electric bZ4X in the United States during the month of September.

Sales of the SUV are starting very timidly, while reservations opened in February 2022. The brand presents its results for the first nine months, and only 232 have been sold across the Atlantic.

Globally, the numbers are a bit better, as the recall affected 2,700 vehicles. But the majority of customers had not yet received their copy during the recall. The bZ4X arrives on a market in great spirits, but with a price starting at 39,900 euros after bonuses, it hopes to have strong enough arguments to find a place there.
