Shocked she is Hilda Rodelo after the death by immersion of his 17-year-old son, Matteo Jesús Avendaño Rodelo, on the beaches of Pradomar in Puerto Colombia.
Pain and sadness took over the woman on Wednesday afternoon when she was told that her son had disappeared after being swept away by the sea current.
“One of the lifeguards says that the children were walking in the water and that he began to call their attention with a megaphone, telling them to get out of the water because it was prohibited and they did not pay attention. They got out of the water and climbed onto a rock on the Malecón, when the boy turns around he finds them. going down the rock to get into the sea and that was when the events happened”, said the minor’s mother.
Hilda points out that the three minors were swept away by the current, two of them were rescued, but unfortunately her son fell into a hole and could not get out.
“He kind of fell into a hole, he couldn’t find anything firm to lean on and be able to get out, the rescuer threw him a life preserver, they went to look for him out to sea and couldn’t find him, “At 8 p.m. they suspended the search.”he pointed out.
Matteo’s body was found this Thursday morning by fishermen in the Mangles sector.
“At 4:50 in the morning a fisherman found him on a rock, it seemed like the wave took him out and he got stuck on the rock. We were at the Police Station asking how the search was going when the fisherman came to tell the Station that they had found the body of a child and we all ran there.”he expressed.
One of the events that Hilda Rodelo has not stopped thinking about since the tragedy is the behavior that her son had before leaving her house.
“My son was asleep when his friends came to look for him, they called him on his cell phone, he gets up and goes out, he doesn’t say anything to me, I tell him daddy where are you going and he didn’t answer me anything, He looked at me all strange with a strange look, a very ugly look that I still remember.“, a cold look, it wasn’t him, and he left without answering me.”
The teenager’s parent indicated that her son was on the terrace of her home with several friends and minutes later she did not hear from them.
“She was calm because she was with her everyday friends, good children, healthy children. At 4:30 pm the child’s father calls me and tells me do you know where your son is, I told him where, he tells me, in Puerto, I answer him but if I haven’t given him permission, the father tells me, I I found out because I just called him to go do a favor for an aunt and he told me that he couldn’t because he was in Puerto, The father caught his attention, then I called him and wrote to scold him, but he didn’t answer me.”, he added.
Matteo was in high school and was a member of the Youth Ministry of the Divine Mercy
His mother will always remember him as “the best son in the world, a noble and loving child.”
