Very sad story this Wednesday, May 17 at the end of the afternoon in the village of Polleur (Theux). For more than an hour, rue Félix Close has been closed to traffic and the police have taken over the street.
According to the first information, confirmed by the authorities, a person driving his car was taken unwell. She had the presence of mind to park her vehicle in extremis, got out of her vehicle and collapsed on the sidewalk.
Local residents, who witnessed the scene, immediately came to the aid of this person, unfortunately without being able to change the fatal outcome. Emergency services were also alerted. The ambulance and the Smur quickly arrived for a final attempt at resuscitation. Again without success. The driver died. This is a person living in Malmedy and aged 51.
The police arrived at the scene of the tragedy and the presence of a medical examiner was still required.
The upper street of the village (rue Félix Close) was therefore temporarily closed, and traffic was diverted by the lower street (rue Victor Brodure) which therefore went in both directions.
