This Sunday morning, a 75-year-old cyclist died on his bike on rue Hermonpont, in Estaimpuis.
“It was a group of local cycle tourists who were riding this morning. One of them, following climbing the bridge, following this effort, probably suffered a heart attack on his bike. In any case, it was a natural death,” said commissioner Tom Deldaele of the Val de l’Escaut police zone.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene to set up a beacon.
The intervention ended around 10:35 am, “things quickly returned to normal”, assures the police commissioner.
