June 21, 2024 was to be the happiest day of Gwenaëlle’s life. This French woman, resident of Bordeaux, was to get married and say “yes” to the love of her life that day. A day that will never be celebrated since she suddenly died on March 4. An operation deemed “banal” which turned into a total tragedy.

This surgical intervention was scheduled for February 27, 2023, at the request of the thirty-year-old. She wanted to remove two cysts on her neck, which she found unsightly, in order to be perfect on her wedding day. Although the operation went normally, the situation quickly deteriorated.

Calls for help ignored

Difficulty breathing, swallowing or eating following the removal of her Redon drain, Gwenaëlle alerted her loved ones but also the staff at Nouvelle Clinique Tondu Bordeaux. But the nurses did not take her calls for help seriously, which pushed the thirty-year-old to get up from her bed (despite her fragile state of health) to go get help on the night of the 1st to the 2nd. March. She will have a cardiac arrest.

“We want the truth”

Placed in an artificial coma and transported to the emergency room of Bordeaux University Hospital at Pellegrin hospital, Gwenaëlle unfortunately died two days later. “Was the Redon removed too soon? », he wonders about Actu.fr. “We ask ourselves questions. When we asked for the medical file, the clinic refused to give it to us directly. They asked for a delay and ended up sending it five days later…”
