During the night from Saturday to Sunday around 24:30, a spectacular accident, unfortunately fatal, occurred in Charleroi rue Pige-au-Croly between an Audi driving from La Garenne towards the Spiroudôme and a polo shirt which arrived from the right. It appears that the Audi was speeding at the time of impact. In each of the vehicles were 3 people.
Following the impact, the Polo spun around while the Audi hit a small pole which made it take off over pedestrians before falling and hitting several stationary vehicles. The Audi ended its race against a facade and on another car.

Seven vehicles damaged
The emergency services descended on the spot with the necessary means. Firefighters under Lt. Melchior and Warrant Officer Decock along with extrication, several ambulances and SMUR also attended the scene. Being the crowd around the damaged cars, the GSA also intervened.
The toll is heavy since two people were injured in the Polo, two others in the Audi. The driver died on the spot.
A judicial inquiry has been opened to shed light on the circumstances of the accident. At the time of writing these lines, the Charleroi police zone has refused to confirm or not the thesis of excessive speed. “A magistrate on duty at the prosecution has been notified and a medical examiner has been appointed. A venipuncture on the body of the victim has been requested”, explains the police.
