Tragic Incident in Shatila Camp: Man Brutalizes Daughters, Authorities Take Action

A great tragedy took place in the western neighborhood of Shatila camp – Beirut, where a young man called “M.E” (Palestinian) brutalized his daughters and tortured them with sharp tools and knives, which resulted in their serious injuries.

Information says that “MA” has a bad reputation, and many complaints have been received previously stating that he is constantly torturing his children, while it is also likely that he is addicted to taking narcotic pills.

What happened yesterday?

Sources of the Palestinian Security Committee in Shatila camp reveal that a number of M.E.’s family members filed an urgent complaint yesterday with one of the committee’s offices, stating that the aforementioned man severely tortures his daughters inside his house in the western neighborhood. Immediately, a security force went to the place, the house was raided, and M.A. was caught in flagrante delicto.

According to the sources, “the scene was horrible, as M.A. appeared holding a sharp instrument, while blood was spilling on the ground from his daughters.” And she added: “At that time, M.A. tried to resist the security forces, but he was caught immediately and his movement was cordoned off. before being taken to one of the security centers of the force in the camp.”

The sources indicated that during M.A.’s arrest, residents of the western neighborhood of the camp gathered on the roadsides, and many people tried to withdraw him from the security force due to their great discontent with what he was doing to his family.

The same sources also revealed that “MA” was almost unconscious during the arrest, and when he regained his normal position, he was confronted with pictures of his daughters while they were being tortured, so he started crying inside the cell. Here, the sources add: “One of the security officials assured” M.A. that he would not be released from detention because he is a criminal, and he must be punished and held accountable for what he was doing.”

As for the children, it was learned that they were first transferred to Haifa Hospital in Shatila, and then they were taken to Al-Makassed Hospital in Beirut, where the administration took care of the costs of treating the girls at its own expense. Meanwhile, the Lebanese security forces came to the place and began their investigations into what happened. The children’s mother (M.E.’s wife) was asked to file a judicial complaint against the latter in order for the Lebanese authorities to receive him.

Responsible sources in the Shatila camp called for the official security services to follow up on this file and to expedite the decision to arrest M.E., given that he poses a threat to his family members, and said: “What happened is an unspeakable crime, and there is ample evidence of that, and immediate measures must be taken in order to be an example for all people.”
