Tragic Incident in Thrissur: Family’s Suicide Attempt due to Debt Crisis Revealed

Thrissur ∙ A family of four members who were in debt due to the loan taken from the Co-operative Bank tried to commit suicide by taking sleeping pills. Kathikudam Machingal Valsan (50), his wife Rashmi (46), son Atul (10) and mother-in-law Thangamani (69) attempted suicide. Thangamani’s condition is critical. It is said that the reason for the mass suicide attempt was that a loan of 13 lakh rupees taken for medical purposes turned into a liability of 26 lakh rupees along with interest.
