Three US marines died this Sunday when they crashed on an island in northern Australia the Osprey aircraft with which they were participating in exercises, indicated the United States military authorities.
“There were a total of 23 personnel on board.. Three have been confirmed dead, and a further five were taken to the Royal Darwin Hospital in serious condition,” a Marine official said in a statement.
The rescue tasks were complicated by the remoteness of the place where the accident occurred, Melville’s Islandabout 60 km north of the Australian mainland.
