Tragic Plane Crash: Ambulance Aircraft Goes Down in Colombia, Four Dead

This Thursday, a Cessna C-90 type aircraft with registration HK-4684, which was providing ambulance services and had declared an emergency, crashed in the El Roble village, between the municipalities of Yarumal and Santa Rosa de Osos, while flying between Montería and Medellin.

Four people died aboard this ambulance aircraft. The pilots Carlos Sarabia and Sebastián Gómez, the doctor Camila Vanegas and the nurse Ángel Marañón, who came to pick up a patient in the capital of Antioquia.

Edíl Martínez, commander of the Santa Rosa de Osos Fire Department, spoke about the process of removing the bodies. “The inspection of the bodies has already been carried out and we have already carried out the rescue. The bodies are currently being transferred to Forensic Medicine, in the city of Medellín,” it was informed.

Likewise, Commander Martínez explained that at first the Santa Rosa Fire Department provided the first attention and after the plane crash occurred, which caused an explosion and a fire, So the authorities found these bodies were in the process of being burned.

The personnel and equipment of the Technical Directorate of Accident Investigation (DIACC) of the Civil Aeronautics, the Colombian Air Force (FAC) and the Aeronautical Search and Rescue Group of Colombia (BRAC) are moving to the accident site to verify the circumstances and initiate the corresponding investigation.

The twin-engine plane was assigned to the company Sky Ambulance, a Panamanian firm. They pointed out that Sky Ambulance SAS personnel are also present in the area for the corresponding investigations. Likewise, they expressed their sincere condolences to all their family and friends.
