London: An Indian student who was thought to have drowned in the sea after being hit by storm Nova has reportedly committed suicide. At the end of a six-month long investigation, the court has found the death of Sai Tejaswi Kumarareddy (24), a native of Hyderabad, to be suicide. Tejashwi, who was a student of Astronautics and Space Engineering, died after falling into the sea in Brighton, UK. The incident took place on April 11.

Eyewitnesses told the court that Tejashwi was seen walking on the beach while the wind and rain battered the coast. While walking like that, he suddenly turned to the right and jumped into the crashing waves. By the time the water reached his waist, Tejaswi was seen floating in the water. All these incidents were witnessed by a man working on the top floor of a flat near the beach.

They tried to save his life by administering first aid before he was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, but Tejashwi died on the spot. No family members were present at the inquest in Chichester, West Sussex. A representative from Tejaswi’s university attended the inquest via video link.

She was a student at Cranfield University in Bedford. Cranfield also served as the 2022-23 Vice President of Students for the Exploration and Development of Space. Fran Radcliffe, head of the university’s Student Representative, said the coursework was intense but Tejashwi later adapted to it. There are those who think that perhaps learning difficulties are the cause of suicide.
