A teenage girl was killed, three teenage girls were seriously injured and an adult driver was also injured after a vehicle crash that happened Tuesday night in Burke, Virginia, authorities said.

The four teens were in a vehicle in the 5700 block of Burke Center Parkway around 9 pm when another driver struck them, causing the children’s vehicle to burst into flames, Fairfax County police said after an initial investigation.

Family and friends brought flowers to the crash site Wednesday morning. Henry Zarco brought a stuffed animal for his niece who died in the accident because she always liked them.

“She always had a smile on her face, and that’s the image I have in my head right now,” Zarco said.

One of the passengers was his niece’s brother, according to Zarco, and he is not well.

Four people were injured and a driver was killed after a collision on Burke Center Parkway.

“We would greatly appreciate prayers for my nephew, your brother,” he said.

Zarco told NBC Washington that he is not ready to share his niece’s name and police have not yet identified her. He added that she recently graduated from James W Robinson, Jr. Secondary School and that the other three teens were students there. They had all been driving home from a prayer service.

“She gave everything, she gave her life to God and served him,” Zarco said. “And it’s just the hardest thing, you know? I just don’t understand why.”

A man whose granddaughter was a friend of the teenager who died brought flowers to honor her.

“Who knows what kind of dreams this young lady had… It’s sad,” she said.

At a news conference, Fairfax County Police Lt. Jim Curry said “speed was a factor” in the collision involving part of the second vehicle.

Police had initially said that both drivers survived.

The crash site is opposite a shopping center not far from Ox Road.

Authorities continue to investigate the deadly crash.
