Transavia’s New Routes to Dubai: Affordable and Convenient Travel Options

A real counter-attack that we no longer expected. While for years, Air France has let Emirates develop its Lyon-Dubai link from Lyon-Saint Exupéry, now daily in high season, the French company has decided to react. And this, through its low-cost subsidiary Transavia which will offer three flights a week from October, at an aggressive price.

Surprise, at the announcement of the winter 2023-2024 program of Transavia, the low-cost subsidiary of the Air France group, we saw two new routes displayed on the departures board towards … Dubai. The company will thus offer to reach Dubai from Lyon and Marseille.

Transavia will offer a Lyon – Dubai at the rate of three flights per week (go on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays; return on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays).

And this, from 159 euros including tax one way.

The first flight has already been announced for October 29.

Tickets for these two new routes have been on sale since Tuesday, June 20.

“We are delighted to expand our network and to offer this trendy destination for the first time”, says Nicolas Hénin, Deputy General Manager Sales and Marketing for Transavia France.

This counter-attack concerns the so-called “point-to-point” customers (and not using a “correspondence” system) who travel to Dubai, which continues to grow, whereas for years the majority of passengers using Emirates flights between France and Dubai mainly used the Gulf airport to go to India, Asia, Australia or East Africa.

The Air France subsidiary will provide these connections by Boeing 737-800.

Admittedly less comfortable than the Emirates Boeing 777, but the price is attractive and above all competitive: the first price on Emirates is announced on the Lyon airport website at around 400 euros.
